Understanding the curriculum
Education in Canada is a provincial and territorial responsibility, with no single national curriculum. Before comparing schools in Morocco, identify the province, teaching language, available grades and any final diploma being offered.
Stages of the pathway
Early years and primary
Canadian-inspired teaching can be used within another school curriculum. Ask which framework is followed and how children can continue after the grades currently offered.
Secondary
Structures and requirements vary by province. Ask about grade placement, subjects, assessment and transfer arrangements from your child’s current pathway.
Provincial diploma
Ontario, for example, awards the OSSD based on credits and other requirements. This model should not be generalized to other provinces: ask about the exact diploma and responsible authority.
When might this pathway suit your family?
- You know which province or pathway fits your plans.
- You distinguish Canadian-inspired teaching from a programme leading to a provincial diploma.
- The grades currently available provide the continuity your child needs.
Questions to ask on a visit
- Which province is responsible for the curriculum?
- Where can the school’s or credit-awarding partner’s authorization be checked?
- Which grades are open this year, and which are only planned?
- Is teaching delivered on campus, online or through a partner?

Frequently asked questions
Is there one Canadian national curriculum?
No. Provinces and territories organize their education systems. Identify the specific province and programme.
Does a nursery called “Canadian” lead to a Canadian diploma?
The name alone cannot establish that. Ask whether it describes a teaching method, curriculum, partnership or provincial authorization.
Why do some schools have external links?
An authority or their official website documents their programmes, but they do not yet have a corresponding Olipo directory profile. These references are listed separately from directory profiles.
